Spain, 1978.
While studying at Arts High School, Mario Rey discovered photography. Then he studied to obtain his degree as a higher technician in artistic photography at Madrid and ended his studies with a bachelor degree in audio-visual creation. At this point he became a member of the Madrid-based documentary photo group Blank Paper.
He obtained a journalism and photography Scholarship at Albarracín in the year 2002, and was selected as finalist for the Purificación García Prize of the year 2006.
His work covers many fields of photography such as collaborator for magazines or photography artist for record companies in Spain.
His works have been shown at some galleries and museums like: CBBAA Madrid, PhotoEspaña...
Mario Rey has also combined his work as an artistic and professional photographer with another one of his passions: teaching. He was a part of the teaching staff at Blank Paper Escuela for few years.
Lately he has been developing personal photo projects while leading Desatados, a Webseries for Rtve, meant to capture Spain’s artistic scene of the 10’s.
